The Home Arms

We are a 10 bedroom B&B Guest House in a prime location in the very centre of the holiday resort and fishing port of Eyemouth in the beautiful Scottish Borders. The Home Arms has a long history in Eyemouth but following extensive renovation in 2012 has all the facilities of a quality modern hotel, together with a warmth and personality resonating from the attention of owners Gary & Zoe

The location is fantastic. Many of the rooms have stunning sea views across Eyemouth Bay. Take a stride across the car park and you're on the sandy beach, or at the leisure centre swimming pool, and it's the shortest of strolls past the local shops to the harbour to explore the fishing museum, watch the boats come and go, and if you're lucky to feed the seals and swans. Eyemouth is steeped in history and surrounded by stunningly beautiful countryside. The 18 hole, par 72, clifftop links course at Eyemouth Golf Club with it's unique challenges for golfers is only minutes away. The marine reserve off our coastline contains some of the very best scuba dive sites in Europe.

In all the rooms the beds are reconfigurable to suit our guest's requirements. This feature is particularly useful for groups who stay with us. Our maximum capacity is 24 guests. We have ample car parking and a Bus Stop directly across the road with routes to Berwick-on-Tweed, Edinburgh, St Abbs, Coldingham and the surrounding areas. Taxi pick ups are also available.

A full traditional cooked breakfast is included, as well as a selection of cereals, fresh fruit and yogurts.

"Set right next to stunning beaches and surrounded by breathtaking picturesque countryside, with Scotland's historic capital of Edinburgh a short 45 minutes away, The Home Arms is the ideal base for a perfect holiday break."

About Us

Zoe Shephardson - The Home Arms

It all began with a weekend's diving trip. Gary & Zoe Steenvoorden, originally from Lincolnshire, were instantly hooked on everything the area around St Abbs & Eyemouth has to offer; fantastic scenic walks, an amazing coastline, and especially the Scuba Diving.  As frequent visitors to the area the couple subsequently made many good friends and enjoyed many happy times.

Their first aim of buying a “holiday home," soon grew to a bigger passion, a dream of living and working in the place they felt most at home. After a lot of searching for a suitable property to run as their own Bed & Breakfast accommodation, The Home Arms, a former pub with letting rooms, came on the market. The old Home Arms had been closed and empty for over a year and needed extensive modernisation. Zoe recalls "It was in quite a state, but as we walked around the empty rooms and were captivated by the breathtaking views out to sea. We could feel this would make our perfect dream place."

The decision by long time friends Billy & Alison Aitchison to relocate their dive charter boat to a larger berth in Eyemouth harbour provided an opportunity for the Licolnshire couple to fulfill their dream. The Home Arms would make an ideal place for dive groups to stay. As divers themselves, Gary & Zoe understood the particular needs of their diving guests. They planned out extra facilities such as a drying room, an equipment store, a comfortable lounge in which to relax, and many other simple touches that make a stay perfect.

Gary & Zoe set about the huge task of painstaking restoration and rennovation of the large building to create "The Home Arms Guest House" - a modern luxury Bed and Breakfast offering the highest levels of comfort and personal service. As Gary explains, "The goal is to create a place with personality, a home from home for people to relax and experience all the fantastic adventures that the area has to give."

What Gary didn't know at the time, was that during that first viewing Zoe had already hatched a plan to transform some of the street level rooms into her very own hair salon - The Hair Bar. What Zoe didn't know back then was that Gary was also thinking..... about buying a boat.

Gary & Zoe are always happy to chat with anyone organising where to stay in Eyemouth. If they can help or if you have any questions, please contact The Home Arms by email or Telephone 018907 51316
